The School Based Health Alliance of Arkansas received $2,500 from Delta Dental Arkansas Foundation to provide a grant writing training for schools and community organizations through a partnership with Arkansas Department of Health and Healthy Active Arkansas: Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Reduction workgroup. The team recruited Kathleen Courtney to provide in-person training and recordings for web-based learning.

Courtney worked with a team of representatives from the Arkansas Department of Health, School Based Health Alliance of Arkansas, and Healthy Active Arkansas: Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Reduction to develop trainings that addressed the grant writing needs of school personnel and community members. The trainings addressed basic grant writing with particular emphasis on areas which the team frequently provided technical assistance on, had direct experience with, and had qualitatively assessed to be barriers when applying for grants. Additionally, the trainings provided information on school and community partners in the state as well as specific examples from grants available in the state.
