The University of Arkansas started a new tradition with their recent game-opener against Portland State. The UA’s Eleanor Mann School of Nursing introduced a new space for breastfeeding mothers who attend home football games on the U of A campus. The Tiny Tusks Breastfeeding and Infant Support Tent will be available several hours before each home game at the north end zone and will provide a clean, private area to nurse, pump or change a baby’s diaper. The tent is equipped with rocking chairs, changing tables, bottled water and engaging projects for older kids, such as face painting. The Tiny Tusks tent will be staffed by lactation consultants, nursing honor students, nursing faculty and final semester nursing students who are completing their community nursing clinical. The project was made possible by a grant from the Women’s Giving Circle at the UA.
